Sherisa de Groot is a writer, editor, and community builder whose work brings together research, strategy, and storytelling.
In 2015, she founded Raising Mothers, a literary platform for Black, Asian, Latine/x, Indigenous, and other marginalized parents of the Global Majority. Now in its tenth year, Raising Mothers has won the 2021 Romper People’s Choice Iris Award and grown into a dedicated global community of readers. In 2023, she expanded her work with the founding of Literary Liberation, a creative membership community for artists, writers, and activists working toward collective liberation, and pens the newsletter A Home Within Myself.
Her writing has appeared in Refinery29, EBONY, Literary Mama, Mutha Magazine, and Oldster Magazine, and she contributed to the anthology 100 Diverse Voices on Parenthood. Previously, she worked as a writer and editor for global brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Penguin Random House, and WeTransfer.
A first-generation Jamaican American originally from Brooklyn, New York, she is now based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
